Midtown Farmers' Market Tomato Tribute

Packed with antioxidants, tomatoes are an excellent addition to any healthy diet. Studies have shown that antioxidants help fight against cancerous cells, and in particular, tomatoes have actually been linked to reducing the risk of prostate cancer. We think that’s worth adding a slice to your burger, or your next pasta dish. And, if not for the extra health benefits at least the taste!

Tomatoes also contain a significant amount of fiber, which will keep you feeling full longer. So, if weight loss is your goal then these make the perfect low-calorie snack. Fiber is also an important aid in lowering cholesterol, keeping blood sugar in check, and maintaining your digestive health.

With all these health benefits, we think tomatoes have more than earned their own tribute. That’s why this Saturday, July 20 we are celebrating with the annual Tomato Tribute at the Midtown Farmers’ Market.   Join us at North Hills to sample more than 25 different types of tomatoes, and vote on your favorite one. Fitness Connection will be hosting a free class on the Commons from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. There will be live music to enjoy, a cooking demonstration with Whole Foods, and of course-, fresh local produce.
