Our healthcare heroes don’t need capes, but when a local artist gifted Duke Raleigh Hospital with a well-deserved mural to say #ThankYouDukeHealth, caregivers flew in for the perfect photo op.
Since last week, hundreds of messages of appreciation have been shared across social media using #ThankYouDukeHealth in response to COVID-19 efforts. At Duke Raleigh Hospital, a local artist donated her time to create a chalk mural on the side of the building that puts a cape on all of our healthcare heroes.
Angela Weir, RN, CCRN, a clinical nurse II with radiology services and vascular access, was happy to pose with her fellow heroes.
One of the many reasons she is proud to work at Duke Raleigh is because her co-workers support each other not just as teams, but as individuals, too. “My team has lifted me up while I’ve been going through some challenges in my own personal life with cancer treatment from Duke,” Weir said. “They have lifted me up so I can keep working. That’s what teams do throughout the hospital, and that’s what we’re doing to help people in the community now.”
