Camille Grant Valentine, Director of Community Affairs for Duke Raleigh Hospital, was recognized by the Triangle Business Journal as a 2021 Leader in Diversity for her commitment to promoting practices that advance diversity in the workplace.
Grant Valentine is a Steering Committee member for Duke Raleigh Hospital’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and a member of Duke Health’s Moments to Movement Committee. Through these initiatives she challenges her teammates to recognize differences and embrace them daily. She also focuses on leading efforts to identify and address systemic racism through activities and events within our communities.
Grant Valentine’s work as the Director of Community Affairs for Duke Raleigh Hospital also includes an effort to address inequities highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes working with trusted community leaders to offer the COVID-19 vaccine to more than 3,000 people of color through various pop-up events in the community.
Grant Valentine is a first generation American raised by two Jamaican-born parents. “This dynamic has helped me see and experience the beauty of cultural diversity,” she says. “And further appreciate the joy of sharing these cultural nuances with others.”
The Triangle Business Journal will profile the winners in a special section that will be published in the print edition on Sept. 10.
