Mammograms Save Lives: Schedule a Screening

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Duke Women’s Cancer Care Raleigh will provide mammograms and activities centered on health for women in the community 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 9.

Women interested in attending this event at Duke Women’s Cancer Care Raleigh, 4101 Macon Pond Road, Raleigh, should make an appointment for their mammogram screening by calling 919-668-8741 Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All women who attend their appointment will be entered into a raffle to win a gift basket. These screenings are for women 40 years of age and older, or those over 25 who have been told they are in a high risk group. Insurance will be billed and at least one year needs to have passed since an individual’s last mammogram.

At this community event, several activities centered on health will also be available including:

  • Chair Yoga
  • Breast radiologists, dieticians, and smoking cessation experts on site to answer questions
  • Music

“Early detection saves lives and protects against breast cancer,” said JoAnn Beaudoin, Administrative Director, Oncology Duke Raleigh Hospital. “We encourage women to take care of themselves and their bodies, especially during this stressful time in our community. If you have not yet visited your doctor for an annual mammogram screening, this is a great opportunity to make an appointment, get your mammogram, and experience all the other health-focused activities available.”

Women interested in this event are not required to be current Duke patients to attend.
